Rabbit Is The New Beef
Rabbit Is The New Beef is a group exhibition which presents work of Liesbeth Doms (BE), Luca Frei (CH), Oscar Hugal (BE), Karen Amanda Moser (CH), Benny Van den Meulengracht-Vrancx (BE), Bent Vande Sompele (BE) and Elise van Mourik (CH).
The most interesting and compelling things happen in doorways: at the borders, right along the edges. By scanning ‘The Liminal Space’, the project investigates the relationship between reality and fiction, the public and the private, and their remnants. Starting from a series of semi-scripted events and ending with an exhibition, an attempt is made to redirect the gaze from overt points of reference to that which is hidden in plain sight. Leading into quasi-fictions, outcomes are thrown into doubt, a new compliant situation might occur. In doing so, the mechanisms of our attention economy, both destructive and constructive, also become a focal point. Engaging with the in-betweenness of ‘what was’ and the ‘next’, improvisation is given a chance.
